Dog bladder infections and stones

Bladder Infection

When bacteria enter the bladder it causes an infection which lead to irritation, which causes the muscles in the bladder to spasm and an urge to urinate becomes more often. Typically the dog will strain and pass a small amount of cloudy or bloody urine.

In some bladder infections minerals in the urine crystallize and form bladder stones. These stones sometimes can be dissolved by feeding a special diet; other times the stones have to be removed by surgery.
