Giving pills to your pet

The easiest way to give your pet a pill is to hide it in a treat like peanut butter or cheese. If your pet spits it out, then you will need to administer it directly in your pet's mouth.

Lubricate the pill with a small amount of butter or oil and hold the pill between your thumb and forefinger. Gently grasp your pet’s head and tilt it back and open its lower jaw. Place the pill as far back over the tongue as possible. Close your pet’s mouth and hold it closed and return it to normal while gently rubbing your pet’s nose or throat until your pet swallows.
