When the hip joint doesn’t develop properly then over time chronic arthritis develops.

Symptoms

Common signs include difficulty getting up, climbing stairs and limping.

Treatment

Anti-inflammatory medications can relieve pain and inflammation. A supplement such as glucosamine/chondroitin for cartilage and joint health (Synovi G3) is recommended. In some cases surgery can improve joint function and decrease pain.

Keeping your dog fit and trim with regular exercise and a balanced diet is important.

Swimming can be very beneficial.
